Missouri HS Football District Finals predictions - Eating Crow

I like the smell of turkey basting in the oven at Thanksgiving.  That smell adds 5 pounds to my waistline, just inhaling deeply.  This weeks' District Finals picks for Missouri HS football leaves me smelling a little crow roasting in the oven.

I guess I am not eating crow with 71% accuracy but I really missed on the class one schools.  How do you not pick Valle Catholic over any opponent?  But I thought Hayti had a chance....

And how about that Lift for Life effort against Lutheran North?  Lost 6-0 but I had the spread at 35.  Great effort there!

I did real well on the other classes so I will take 70% with two games today still to be played.  I still think St. Mary's wins at McCluer and that Borgia gets by Roosevelt without their head coach, Trey Porter.  Maybe the Rough Riders are looking for bear and upset Borgia.  Who knows?

I hit 88% the first week with a lot of blow-outs, 82% on week two with closer games.  Sectional games will be even closer next week, so I expect my percentage will drop again.

MISSOURI CLASS 5 FOOTBALL RATINGS 10/30/19

I toyed with Missouri Boys football ratings last year and developed a fairly good algorithm that predicted play-off winners.  I didn't bother this fall until this past week, when I started looking at the 220 or so boys eleven man football scores.  It's a tedious effort but I enjoy seeing how the kids perform to the ratings.  I have to remind myself they are 16- and 17-year-olds and don't often perform at their best.  You see that in the ratings by week where they might be a 100 rating but they have a 120 game rating one week and an 80 rating against a lesser team the week. So, with not a lot of fanfare, I am posting some of the classes, starting with class 5.  There are a few great teams including Staley, Fort Zumwalt North, Chaminade and Eureka but the class of the division is Jackson. Class 6 Missouri High School Football 2nd round predictions

I had a pretty good week last week, missing one of the sixteen matchups but the teams are much more competitive this week.  I actually had 7th seed Blue Springs South ranked 9 points better than Troy but picked Troy, based on MSHSAA seedings.  Ouch!  Gotta believe my own algorithm. Here's my outlook for the 2nd round, based on my ratings, not the league: Class 6 Missouri Football 2nd round 1 Christian Brothers College by 36 4 Hazelwood West No   one touches CBC.   This one is over at half-time when the CBC JV gets playing time. 3 Pattonville 2 DeSmet by 10 De Smet is too tough for Pattonville although the Pirates will hang tough until the 4th quarter. 1 Rock Bridge by 5 4 Francis Howell Rock Bridge ekes by an improving Francis Howell team that is pea...

District Finals - Missouri HS Football picks for 11/15 games

It's the third week of  Missouri HS football play-offs and district finals are Friday and Saturday. These games will be much closer than the previous weeks where the average spread was 18 to 25 points.  With a few exceptions, most games are single digit spreads.  I have taken into account the home field advantage (+3 points) in this week's prognostications. Who's hot?  Well, can anyone come close to De Smet?  A very excellent Francis Howell team, with a top 5 state rating, will be a four touchdown underdog at De Smet Friday night.  Jackson should roll on with a win over Fox.  Bolivar, undefeated in class 4, gets their wings clipped at perennial juggernaut, Webb City.  In class 3, no one appears to stop Odessa, including Center this week. Lutheran North is unstoppable in class 2 and could give De Smet a great game.  In Class 1, can Hayti or Pierce City break the championship spell that Valle Catholic has had for umpteen years?
