Football Polls and Actual ratings 9/13/2018
I find it interesting to compare the Post-Dispatch football rankings for early season to the ratings based on head-to-head and comparative scores. It seems like some of the teams don't quite belong but, then again, early season results make these polls very iffy.
But, I guess, early season ratings are also less robust than late season calculations. Hopefully, both the calculations and polls will begin to make sense. The Large school ratings look closer to the polls than the Small schools where a lot of upheaval will occur before the best teams rise to the top. Right now it looks like Highland, Illinois deserves the #1 spot, with Lutheran North right behind. Trinity had close losses to East St. Louis (3OTs) and Colquit County GA but their 30 point win over Du Bourg was under-whelming. CBC is far and away the best in the St. Louis Metro area in Large Schools.
